Ore Hill Tent Site
About this site
This tent site offers two primitive tent pads. Water is available 250 ft. south of the shelter site on a side trail. Privy is also provided. Additional Info: The site is free and operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. The original shelter was destroyed by arsonists in fall 2011. Access is via the Appalachian Trail from NH Route 25C, heading southbound past the summit of Ore Hill. Fires are allowed. Pets are allowed. The site is accessible year-round for experienced backpackers, though winter conditions in the White Mountains can be severe. Standard White Mountain National Forest regulations apply, including restrictions on camping within a quarter-mile of trailheads and developed sites, and no camping above treeline except on adequate snow cover.
