About this site

Oh Be Joyful Campground is a 30-unit BLM campground located approximately 5 miles from Crested Butte, Colorado, along the Slate River at approximately 9,000 feet elevation. The campground features 14 RV campsites, 15 walk-in tent campsites, and one walk-in group campsite, with 3 vault restrooms. Each campsite includes a parking space, metal fire ring, picnic table, tent pad, and bear-proof food storage locker. The campground is named after nearby Oh Be Joyful Creek, which features massive waterfalls and colorful wildflowers in summer. Access is via BLM Road 3220, which is steep and rough and may not be suitable for larger low-clearance RVs. Drinking water, electric hook-ups, trash service, and showers are not available; visitors must bring their own water and pack out trash. The campground is normally full and requires reservations through Recreation.gov. Maximum stay is 14 days. Dogs must be on leash. Be prepared for afternoon thunderstorms and use caution along the riverbank during spring runoff.
