About this site

Mule Mountain LTVA is a Bureau of Land Management Long Term Visitor Area located in Riverside County, California, consisting of two designated campgrounds: Wiley's Well and Coon Hollow. The area features open desert camping on flat, sparsely vegetated landscape with creosote bushes, palo verde trees, ironwood trees, mesquite trees, and various cacti species. Camping is free April 16–September 14 with a 14-day limit. A $180 permit is required September 15–April 15. All camping units must be self-contained for waste and gray water except within 500 feet of vault toilets or rest rooms. Amenities include vault toilets, water faucets, and dump stations. No electrical, water, or sewer hookups are available. Pets are prohibited. Recreational opportunities include hiking, wildlife viewing, and rockhounding.
