Moon Lake Group Campground is located on the shores of scenic Moon Lake on the southern slope of the Uinta Mountains at an elevation of 8,100 feet. The campground features two group sites, each capable of accommodating up to 75 people, making it ideal for large gatherings, reunions, and organized outings. Each site includes picnic tables and campfire rings with grills. The landscape is characterized by lodgepole pines and aspens that provide partial shade, with abundant wildlife and summer wildflowers throughout the area. Moon Lake offers excellent canoeing and fishing opportunities, with anglers targeting rainbow and cutthroat trout, Kokanee salmon, and splake. The campground serves as a trailhead for the Lake Fork Trail and Brown Duck Mountain Loop, offering outstanding hiking and horseback riding access into the High Uintas Wilderness, where numerous alpine lakes provide exceptional backcountry fishing. The campground provides accessible vault toilets and trash collection. A campground host is located at nearby Moon Lake Campground where firewood can be purchased. Roads and parking spurs are gravel. Moon Lake Resort is adjacent to the campground, offering limited supplies, groceries, and boat rentals for visitors. Additional Info: Reservations are required and can be made through the National Recreation Reservation System (NRRS) at 1-877-444-6777 or at recreation.gov. Maximum vehicle length is 25 feet. No showers, electrical hookups, water hookups, or sewer hookups are available.
