Mio Pond State Forest Campground and Group Camp

Nestled along the Au Sable River at Mio Dam, this rustic campground offers a picturesque escape with excellent fishing and paddling. The campground is divided into two distinct areas: a campground with 24 secluded, wooded campsites for tents and small trailers on the west side, providing privacy and a natural setting; and a paddle-in group camping area with 10 sites on the east side. Amenities include vault toilets and potable water from a hand-pump well. No electrical hookups available. Sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations. Overnight fees are $20 for most sites. Camping is limited to a 15-day maximum stay. One camping unit and six people are allowed per site. Located 2 miles northwest of Mio via Morenci Avenue, Pond Drive and South Gerber Road. Additional Info: A Michigan Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry. An accessible T-dock is available at the group camping area. A picnic area with picnic tables and charcoal grill is centrally located. The campground provides access to state land open to hunting (firearm hunting not allowed within 450 feet of occupied dwellings).
