Maude Lake Campsite
About this site
Maude Lake is a 95-acre backcountry lake located 20 miles north of Tower in Superior National Forest. The lake has a maximum depth of 26 feet and brown bog-stained water. There are 2 campsites on Maude Lake accessible via 160-rod portage from USFS Road 200 or via canoe route. The lake is part of the Astrid Lake area and Hunting Shack River Route, which includes 7 miles of hiking trail, 6 backcountry campsites, and a canoe route with 4 interconnected lakes (Astrid Lake, Maude Lake, Pauline Lake, and Nigh Lake). Campsites are equipped with fire rings, tent pads, and latrines. Maximum 9 people per campsite. Pack out all garbage. The area provides wilderness-style camping without wilderness permits and regulations. Fish species include burbot, northern pike, pumpkinseed, walleye, yellow perch, and white sucker.
