Cabin, corral and primitive camping area accessible by vehicle via dirt road. Massacre Ranch is a low-key, free first-come-first-served BLM site featuring a sparse cabin with two large rooms (cots and wood stove kitchen), fire ring, vault toilet, and round corral for horses. Massacre Creek flows nearby with grassy meadows. No potable water on site; pack out all trash. Located in the Massacre Rim Dark Sky Sanctuary, designated in 2019 as one of the darkest places on Earth. Best seasons are late spring/early summer or fall; not accessible in winter due to weather. Maximum 7 consecutive nights. Remote location with no cell service; nearest services in Cedarville, CA, Gerlach, NV, or Denio, NV. Additional Info: Off-road vehicles are not permitted within the sanctuary boundary. Sign the BLM log book to track site use. Dispersed camping is permitted throughout the broader Massacre Rim area with a 14-day maximum stay per location.
