Manzana Schoolhouse Camp
About this site
A wilderness trail camp located approximately 8 miles downstream from Nira Camp via the Manzana Trail (30W13) in the San Rafael Wilderness, Los Padres National Forest. The camp sits at the junction of Manzana Creek and the Sisquoc River in a meadow setting with oak trees. The site features a primitive campground with picnic tables and a privy. Water is readily available from Manzana Creek. The camp is named for the nearby historic Manzana Schoolhouse, an abandoned structure last used around 1901 when a small community farmed in the area. Ruins of old homesteads can be found along the Sisquoc River. The trail to the schoolhouse is 8 miles one way (17 miles round trip from the trailhead) and involves multiple creek crossings.
