Magruder Rangers House
About this site
A historic two-story, five-room log cabin on the Selway River, once the residence of the District Ranger. Located at approximately 4,000 feet elevation between the 1.2-million-acre Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness and the 2.3-million-acre Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness. The cabin accommodates 6-10 people with two bedrooms (one with two single beds, one with two double beds) plus two futons in the living room. Amenities include shower stall, fireplace, and riverfront access. Bring a saw as trees often fall when traveling to and from this cabin site. Drinking water is not available starting October 1. High-clearance vehicles advised. Roads not plowed in winter. From Elk City, Idaho, the road is generally not passable until mid to late July.
