About this site
Madrone Soda Springs is a historic site in Henry W. Coe State Park reached by hiking down a steep side trail about 900 feet from Manzanita Point trail near park headquarters. It features a quiet meadow by the creek with remnants of an old hotel and resort including a 'Madrone' sign, old stairway, cobblestone cooler room, and collapsed cabin nearby. The site has historical significance from Ohlone natives, Mexican settlers in 1866, cabins built around 1880, and a post office from 1883-1895.
