Macklin Bay Campground is one of two developed campgrounds at Swanson Reservoir State Recreation Area, the largest recreation area in southwestern Nebraska. The campground features 17 camping pads with 20-, 30-, and 50-amp electrical hookups. All sites are equipped with picnic tables and fire pits. Modern restrooms and showers are available, along with drinking water. Two dump stations serve the recreation area. Firewood is provided. The broader Swanson Reservoir SRA encompasses a 4,974-acre lake and 3,957 acres of land, offering fishing, boating, swimming, and water sports. A designated swimming beach, sand volleyball court, and picnic shelters are available. Pets are allowed on leash (no longer than 6 feet). Park entry permit required for all vehicles.
