Mackinaw Shelter
About this site
Backcountry camping area at 2,950 feet elevation on the North Fork Sauk Trail in Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Located 5-5.5 miles from the Sloan Creek trailhead along the North Fork Sauk River. The former shelter structure no longer stands, but established campsites remain. Vault toilets and fire rings are available. Water access from the river. Popular turnaround point for day hikers and a camping destination for backpackers continuing toward Glacier Peak Wilderness. Please use existing campsites to protect fragile alpine vegetation and bring a camp stove as wood is scarce.
