Lower Nankoweap Camp

Lower Nankoweap Camp is a riverside backpacking campsite at mile 53 in Nankoweap Canyon along the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park. Accessible only by hiking the Nankoweap Trail from the North Rim or by raft on the river. Features sandy beaches near Nankoweap Creek delta. Nearby Ancestral Puebloan granaries perched above the river. Small sites available; for river privacy, camp in smaller beach areas away from main delta to avoid raft trips. Additional Info: Nankoweap Trail is one of the most difficult trails in Grand Canyon, with narrow ledges, steep descents, loose rock, and limited water.
