About this site

Lower Butte Camp is an inviting meadow with water, wildflowers, and several campsites, accessible via Trail #238A branching from Toutle Trail #238 at 1.3 miles from Red Rock Pass. The trail crosses a 1,900-year-old lava flow covered with huckleberries in season and climbs gradually through lodgepole pine forest. A creek flows through the grasses at camp. Upper Butte Camp is a sensitive research area; please plan on camping at Lower Butte Camp. Travel is allowed on approved trails only; off-trail travel and camping are prohibited.
