About this site

Primitive roadside campsites located along the River Road in Big Bend National Park, 23 miles from the west end near Castolon or 31 miles from the east end near Rio Grande Village. The two campsites are accessed via a 3.5-mile access road; River Road is maintained for high clearance vehicles only and may require 4-wheel drive, especially after rains. Maximum vehicle length is 25 feet. No shade, toilets, or other amenities are provided. Campsites are located on a bluff directly above the Rio Grande with great views of Punta de la Sierra and Mule Ears. The river is accessible by walking down a steep bluff. Generators are prohibited. A Backcountry Permit is required. Secure belongings and do not leave site unattended for long periods.
