Longs Peak Campground
About this site
Longs Peak Campground is a rustic, tents-only campground located at 9,500 feet above sea level in Rocky Mountain National Park, approximately 20 minutes south of Estes Park on Highway 7. This small campground features 26 campsites available exclusively on a first-come, first-served basis, with no advance reservations accepted. Each site accommodates up to 8 people and can fit one camping tent plus one additional tent, with parking limited to two vehicles per site. The campground provides vault toilets year-round and food storage lockers to protect against bears and other wildlife. There is no potable water available, so campers must bring their own drinking water. Fires are only permitted in the metal fire grates provided, and gathering firewood is prohibited. The campground is situated in a natural forest setting where surfaces are uneven with rocks, branches, and other natural features, and some sites require navigating 3 to 6 steps to reach the tent pad. Longs Peak Campground serves as an excellent base for hiking Longs Peak, one of Colorado's famous fourteeners, as well as exploring the surrounding wilderness areas. The campground typically operates from early July through early September, closing for the winter season due to weather conditions. The camping fee is $30 per site, per night, payable through the Recreation.gov app using the Scan & Pay feature available in the campground.
