Lonesome Beaver
About this site
Lonesome Beaver Campground is a secluded BLM campground located in the heart of Sawmill Basin within the Henry Mountains at an elevation exceeding 8,000 feet. This small, primitive campground features just 5 sites, providing an intimate wilderness experience in one of Utah's most remote mountain ranges. Access requires driving 23 miles south of Hanksville on Sawmill Basin Road, a challenging dirt route that demands a high-clearance vehicle and preferably 4-wheel drive. Each campsite includes a parking area, picnic table, fire ring with grill, and bench. The campground provides accessible vault restrooms and potable water spigots, making it more developed than typical dispersed camping while maintaining a backcountry feel. The campground operates on a pay-what-you-feel basis with no minimum fee, collected on-site. Additional Info: A secluded creekside campground with ample shade in a grove of aspen trees.
