About this site
Little Medano is one of 6 designated back-country campsites located along the Sand Ramp Trail in Great Sand Dunes National Park, approximately 4.9 miles from Piñon Flats Campground. It is a secluded site in a woodland of giant ponderosas with mountain views, accessible only by hiking (about 5.75 miles from parking at Piñon Flats or Horse Trailer lot). Nearby Medano Creek may provide variable water. Additional Info: Backcountry permit required. No vehicle access.
