Little Lake Creek Wilderness Camp
About this site
Little Lake Creek Wilderness is a 3,855-acre backcountry area within Sam Houston National Forest in Montgomery County, Texas. The wilderness is bisected by three major creek drainages: Little Lake Creek, Pole Creek, and Sand Branch. Loblolly and shortleaf pines dominate ridgetops, separated by hardwood trees along creek channels. The Lone Star Hiking Trail provides primary access to the wilderness. Primitive backcountry camping is permitted; established primitive sites include Pole Creek Camp with rough benches. Motorized vehicles and logging are prohibited. Trails are for foot traffic only and feature soft surfaces of pine needles and leaves. Terrain consists of gently rolling hills with short steep sections crossing creek drainages. After rain, bottomland areas can become muddy. Dogs are permitted but must be leashed. Leave No Trace principles should be followed when camping.
