Leggett Creek Campground
About this site
Leggett Creek Campground is a small, undeveloped camping area situated along Highway 14 in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests, just 14 miles west of Elk City, Idaho. The campground features 5 spacious campsites that can accommodate larger RVs and trailers, making it a convenient stop for travelers exploring the remote Highway 14 corridor. Each campsite is equipped with a metal fire ring, and the campground has one vault toilet serving all sites. No potable water, trash service, or other amenities are provided, so campers must come fully self-sufficient and practice pack-in, pack-out principles. The campground's location provides excellent fishing access to both Leggett Creek and the South Fork of the Clearwater River, popular destinations for anglers seeking solitude in pristine waters. Leggett Creek Road (Forest Road 649) intersects Highway 14 at the campground entrance, providing access to lower Leggett Creek and the Reed Mountain area for those interested in exploring further into the backcountry. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservation system or fees. Additional Info: 5 campsites with metal fire rings. Vault toilet (SST). No potable water. No refuse receptacles. Open year-round as snow allows; winter access may be limited.
