Kite Lake

Kite Lake Campground is located 5.5 miles northwest of Alma on CR 8. It has five campsites and none are recommended for trailers. Camping season begins in May and continues until the road is snowed in. Facilities include fire ring, tables, and outhouse toilets, but there is no water and no trash service at this campground. Campsites at Kite Lake are first-come, first-serve. Additional Info: Operated by a concessionaire and typically open mid-May through mid-October, weather dependent. Maximum 8 people per site and 14-night stay limit. Dogs must be leashed. Quiet hours 10pm-6am. High clearance vehicle recommended for access road. Serves as base for 14er hikes including Mt Democrat, Lincoln, Cameron, and Bross. Located above treeline at over 12,000 feet.
