Kirkwood Ranch
About this site
Kirkwood Ranch is a historic backpacking campground in the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest near the Snake River, accessible by boat or via the Snake River National Recreation Trail (approximately 6 miles from Upper Pittsburg Landing). The site features 5 tent sites with picnic tables, flush toilets, and potable water. The historic ranch offers a glimpse of 1930s canyon life with original ranch buildings, bunkhouses, and a museum. Pets are allowed, and campfires are permitted. The area is popular for day hikes and offers access to nearby Hells Canyon. No fees required. Year-round access, though day use is sunrise to sunset.
