About this site

Keller Peak Yellow Post Sites are a series of nine (9) campsites, all located along the roadside of Keller Peak Road (Forest Road 1N96). These sites were designated by the Mountaintop Ranger District of San Bernardino National Forest as free campsites. Each campsite is restricted to a single party of campers, with no more than eight (8) persons and two vehicles. All sites are first come, first serve, no reservations. Additional Info: Elevation: 6,394 feet. Maximum stay: 14 days in any 30-day period. Amenities include fire rings and picnic tables. Sites are small in size, better suited for cars, vans, and pickup trucks; small trailers under 20 feet in length are probably acceptable. Keller Peak Road is paved throughout. These sites are normally closed due to heavy snow from late fall to late spring. Sites #7, #8, and #9 offer the most solitude; other sites are paired and may be noisier. Campfires are allowed during certain times when fire restrictions have been lifted; otherwise, California requires a free campfire permit obtainable online from CalFire.
