About this site
Juniper Flats 1 (JF1) is a backcountry backpacking campsite in Big Bend National Park's Chisos Mountains, located 1 mile from the Chisos Basin Trailhead via the Pinnacles Trail on a signed spur trail approximately 150 feet off the main trail. It features a large site with two level tent areas, logs for seating, good shade most of the day, privacy from surrounding trees, and excellent views of Casa Grande and the basin area. Maximum capacity is 4 people and 1 tent. No water, toilets, or other amenities are available at the site; carry 1 gallon of water per person per day. The first half-mile of trail is steep, then moderately difficult. Parking is at the Chisos Basin trailhead. Reservations required via recreation.gov.
