Juniper Campground
About this site
Juniper Campground is the largest and highest campground in Mount Diablo State Park, perched on a plateau at 3,000 feet elevation on the slopes of Mount Diablo. It features 36 individual campsites set among juniper and oak trees, with spectacular westward views overlooking the San Ramon Valley and the greater Bay Area. On clear days, campers can see as far as the Golden Gate Bridge from the nearby Diablo Valley Overlook. Juniper Campground serves as an excellent base for exploring Mount Diablo State Park. The Juniper Trail passes directly by the campground and is part of the 7-mile Great Loop that circumnavigates the mountain. The Summit Visitor Center is a short drive away and offers panoramic views spanning over 100 miles on clear days. Additional Info: 36 sites, reservations required via ReserveCalifornia, $30 base fee all seasons ($10 additional vehicle, $2 senior discount), max vehicle length 20 feet, gates open 8:00 AM to sunset.
