Jordan Junction Hiker-Biker Campsite
About this site
Jordan Junction Hiker-Biker Campsite is a primitive, free, first-come, first-served campsite located at mile 101.2 on the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal towpath near Williamsport, Maryland. The site accommodates one group of up to eight persons and includes a chemical toilet, picnic table, and grill or fire ring. A hand-pumped water spigot provides non-potable water that must be filtered, chemically treated, or boiled before use; water is turned off from mid-November through mid-April each year. The campsite is accessible only by foot or bicycle via the towpath and is not ADA accessible. Overnight stays are limited to one night, and there is no fee or reservation required. Additional Info: This site is part of a network of hiker-biker campsites spaced approximately every 5–7 miles along the C&O Canal towpath and serves through-hikers and cyclists traveling the 184.5‑mile towpath. The campsite is located close to Williamsport, providing easy access to food and supplies, and is situated near the Potomac River, making it subject to flooding after heavy rains. Firewood may be collected from dead material on the ground for use at the campsite only and cannot be removed from the park or brought in from outside.
