James Kipp Recreation Area
About this site
James Kipp Recreation Area is a 34-site BLM-managed campground along the Upper Missouri National Wild and Scenic River and Fort Peck Lake, within the Charles M. Russell National Wildlife Refuge. It offers 19 single units and 15 multi/group campsites, all first-come, first-served with a 14-day limit. Amenities include drinking water (seasonal), public telephone, boat ramp, fish cleaning table, 8 vault toilets, picnic tables, trash cans, fire rings at each site, and an RV dump station. A dedicated floaters tent site is near the boat ramp. All facilities are handicapped accessible. There is a camp host during summer season. RVs up to 40 feet can be accommodated. No hookups available. Additional Info: Open April 1 to December 1. Popular for boating, fishing, camping, and paddlecraft launches. Potable water may be unavailable early season until after spring freeze.
