NORTH IRON SPRINGS (Camping Area) Additional Info: Iron Springs Group Campground is located approximately 5 miles off U.S. Highway 191, along the Red Cloud Loop Scenic Backway at an elevation of 9,200 feet in Ashley National Forest. The campground consists of two group sites that can accommodate up to 50 people each. Sites include both a fenced-in area with picnic tables and areas immediately adjacent to sites 1 and 2 with a quarter mile for overflow parking. Vault toilets are provided. Picnic tables and campfire circles are located at each site with large gravel parking areas adjacent. The site lies at the edge of a grassy meadow bordered by shady pines and aspens, with sagebrush and summer wildflowers dotting the meadow. Many small lakes and streams can be found in the vicinity. Campers enjoy exploring local off-road trails. RVs up to 25 feet are accommodated. There is currently no drinking water available. Reservations are required and can be made through Recreation.gov.
