Ipsut Creek Campground
About this site
Ipsut Creek Backcountry Campground is a tents-only backcountry site in Mount Rainier National Park, accessed via a 5-mile hike or bike along the Carbon River Trail (formerly a road, now closed to vehicles due to washouts) with about 600-700 feet elevation gain. It features multiple large campsites with picnic tables, fire rings (fires currently prohibited), bear boxes, and solar-powered toilets. Backcountry camping permits are required and available from the Carbon River Ranger Station. No reservations needed; first-come, first-served. Additional Info: Part of the Wonderland Trail/Northern Loop. Suitable base for day hikes to Ipsut Falls and beyond. Cabin on site (locked). Pack in/out; water from nearby streams.
