Interstate State Park WI - Group Campground
About this site
Interstate Group Campground offers primitive group camping in Interstate State Park, established in 1900 as Wisconsin's oldest state park. Located along the picturesque St. Croix National Scenic Riverway, the group camp features two primitive sites that can accommodate a total of 60 people. The campground is set within a park known for its dramatic glacial features, including deep potholes carved by ancient glaciers and the steep-sided gorge known as the Dalles of the St. Croix. The group camp operates year-round, making it unique among the park's camping options. During winter months, the area is plowed to provide drive-up access, allowing groups to camp comfortably even in snowy conditions. The park offers nine miles of summer hiking trails and an additional 12.5 miles of winter trails, providing excellent opportunities for exploration in any season. Reservations are required and must be made in advance through the Wisconsin State Parks reservation system, available up to 11 months ahead. The campground provides a rustic experience with basic amenities, ideal for organized groups seeking an immersive outdoor experience in one of Wisconsin's most historic and geologically significant parks. Additional Info: Two primitive group sites for up to 60 people total. Year-round access with winter plowing. Fires allowed.
