About this site

Indian Road Campground is one of a handful of free developed campgrounds operated by the US Bureau of Reclamation, but on land administered by Montana Department of Fish Wildlife & Parks. The campsites are small, intended for cars, vans, pickup trucks, and small trailers. However, it’s a great option for those wanting to explore the shops and restaurants of downtown Townsend, MT. Additional Info: Indian Road Campground is a 40-acre developed campground located near the Missouri River at the southern end of Canyon Ferry Reservoir, just north of Townsend. It offers basic amenities including picnic tables and fire rings at each site, vault toilets, and a small fishing pond for kids and individuals with disabilities. Adjacent to Indian Road Group Use Shelter. Open first come, first served.
