Constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the1930 's, Idlewild Campground is an easily accessible campground located just off of US Highway 395. The campground is lightly used and only becomes busy during the fall hunting season. Please pack out what you pack in, there is no trash service provided at this campground. The campground is a great place for those traveling through who would like a nice quiet place to camp that is easy to reach. Printable map of trails in the area. Additional Info: Situated at 5,000 feet elevation in a large stand of Ponderosa pines near a meadow. The Devine Summit Trail begins within the campground, providing opportunities for hiking and mountain biking. A wood-framed, open-air pavilion accommodates up to 75 people and can be reserved through Recreation.gov. Individual campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Water systems are shut off from October through May. Oregon State Sno-Park Permit is required from November 1st through April 30th.
