Hughesville Dispersed Camping

Hughesville Canyon dispersed camping area at 4,700 ft elevation in the Little Belt Mountains. Enjoy 25+ dispersed campground sites peppered through a 10 mile stretch along the Dry Fork of Belt Creek near Monarch, Montana. These campsites are free and first-come-first-served with a 16-day stay limit per site. The creek runs most of the year next to the campgrounds. Along the road you can find two public bathrooms, Bender Trailhead, and glimpses of historic mining history. Established fire pits (20+) and day picnic tables (4) are available. Additional Info: Open June 1 - September 30. Pets allowed. Handicap accessible. Cell phone coverage is limited (2 of 10). Distance from Highway 89 is 1-10 miles. Managed by Belt Creek Ranger District.
