About this site

Imagine boondocking in the California desert during the winter, with a fully developed hot spring? It actually exists. Well, the boondocking is not totally free, it does cost money to camp here during the snow bird season. Albeit it’s a “dirt cheap” price. However, the hot spring remains free all throughout the year. It can’t be all that bad, right? Hot Springs LTVA is one of the most popular places for boondocking in the California desert. Additional Info: BLM Long Term Visitor Area (LTVA) requiring permit for camping September 15 to April 15. Adjacent to historic Holtville Hot Springs with pools and hot shower. Flat desert terrain suitable for long-term vehicle camping.

Arrived late and the entire place was empty! No fees outside of the season (April - September) so we stayed free. Lots of space, but not the prettiest. (5/23/25)
