Holmes
About this site
Holmes Campground is a primitive developed campground operated by the U.S. Forest Service in the Medicine Bow Mountains of southeast Wyoming. The campground features 11 campsites designed for tent camping and small trailers under 22 feet. Each site includes a picnic table and fire grate. The campground provides vault toilets and potable drinking water, but campers must pack out all trash as there is no refuse service. Located near Rob Roy Reservoir along Forest Road 511, the campground serves as a base for fishing, hiking, and exploring the surrounding national forest. The reservoir and nearby Bear Creek offer fishing opportunities. The remote location requires travel on forest roads, with access via Highway 130 to Highway 11, then west on Forest Road 500 to Forest Road 511. Like most Medicine Bow National Forest campgrounds at higher elevations, Holmes Campground operates seasonally and is typically closed during winter months due to snow. The campground is managed by the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests and operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional Info: Elevation: 9,593 feet. Typical operating season: June through October, weather dependent. No cell service (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile all report no coverage).
