Hermit Rapids
About this site
Hermit Rapids is a designated backcountry campsite (BM8) located at the terminus of the Hermit Trail in Grand Canyon National Park, approximately 8.2 miles from the trailhead and accessible by hiking or boat on the Colorado River. The campsite is situated along the Colorado River at an elevation of 2,300 feet. Abundant sand and rocky cliffs surround the camp area. There is no toilet on site. Water is available from Hermit Creek, which flows into the Colorado River at the campsite; visitors must bring water filters and purification systems. A backcountry permit is required, and camping is only permitted in designated sites. Large groups of 7 to 11 people must use a designated large group site.
