Henninger Flats

Henninger Flats is a hike-in campground located at 2,550 feet elevation in the San Gabriel Mountains above Altadena, California. The campground features approximately 30 first-come, first-served sites spread across three tiers (Lower Campground, Upper Campground, and Fuji Campground), with around 10 sites on each tier. Access requires a 3-mile hike up the Mount Wilson Toll Road from the trailhead at Pinecrest Drive in Altadena. Amenities include fire rings, grills, picnic tables, vault toilets, drinking water, and free firewood. Dogs are allowed on leashes. The maximum stay is 7 nights. The campground is operated by the Los Angeles County Fire Department and includes a visitor information center and tree nursery. Campsites offer panoramic views over the San Gabriel Valley and are known for excellent stargazing opportunities.
