About this site
Hells Bay Chickee #1 is a backcountry chickee platform campsite in Everglades National Park, accessible only by boat, canoe, or kayak via Hells Bay Canoe Trail or East River from Whitewater Bay. The site features two connected platforms (each approximately 10x12 ft) with capacity for up to 6 people total, a vault/composting toilet, and no drinking water, showers, or hookups. Alligators may be present; secure food properly. Additional Info: - Located in the middle of Hells Bay in front of a mangrove island, near marker #178. - Canoe/kayak/small boat launch available. - Reservations required via park permit system.
