Hellroaring Creek
About this site
Backcountry camping area in Yellowstone National Park accessible via the Hellroaring Creek Trail from the Hellroaring Trailhead in the Tower Area. The trail begins with a steep 600-foot descent over 1 mile to the Yellowstone River Suspension Bridge, then continues through sagebrush meadows of the Buffalo Plateau before dropping to Hellroaring Creek. Multiple designated campsites are located along Hellroaring Creek. Grizzly bears frequent this area; use bear canisters for food storage. Limited shade along the trail; bring water. Advance permit required; $25 reservation fee plus $3 per person per night (Memorial Day through September 10). Contact Backcountry Office: (307) 344-2160.
