Harralson Horse Camp
About this site
Harralson Horse Camp is a small, primitive equestrian campground situated away from the busy developed campgrounds at Waldo Lake in Oregon's Willamette National Forest. While the camp lacks equestrian improvements such as corrals and hitching posts, it provides a quiet base for riders exploring the extensive trail system in the area. Basic amenities include picnic tables, fire rings, and vault toilets, though no drinking water is available on-site. Campers can obtain water at nearby North Waldo Campground, and horses can be watered near the campground off the Waldo Lake Trail. The campground serves as an ideal staging area for riders wanting to explore trails in and around the Three Sisters and Waldo Lake Wilderness areas. Trail opportunities include the Harralson Trail, which connects to the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail, and the Jim Weaver Loop (Waldo Lake Trail), which provides access to both wilderness areas. The trail around Waldo Lake offers scenic riding, though stock is not permitted in the developed Waldo Lake campgrounds. Additional Info: Located approximately 12 miles from Highway 58 via Forest Road 5897, at an elevation where seasonal access is limited by snowpack. Operates mid-July to late October, depending on conditions.
