About this site

Hand Island is a designated backcountry campsite in the Broken Group Islands unit of Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. Accessible only by kayak or canoe, it serves as a key entry/exit point for paddlers entering from Toquaht Bay/Secret Beach (about 2.5-hour paddle) or exiting the park. One of seven official camping islands: Hand, Turret, Gibraltar, Dodd, Clarke, and Gilbert. Reservations required via BC Parks during the season. Features outhouses; pack in/pack out required, no drinking water, garbage bins, or other services. Can be crowded due to its location. Open May 1 to September 30 annually; closed October 1 to April 30.
