Ham Lake Site 4
About this site
Ham Lake Site 4 is one of four dispersed backcountry campsites on Ham Lake in Superior National Forest, Minnesota. Accessible only by foot or boat via carry-down portage at the northwest end of the lake. Each site has a fire grate and latrine. No potable water, restrooms at parking area, or other amenities. Permit required only if entering Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness; not needed for Ham Lake itself. Fish species include northern pike, walleye, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, and others. Additional Info: Ham Lake is 119 acres with 3.8 miles shoreline and maximum depth of 40 feet. Cross River flows into the lake with rapids at inlet and calmer at outlet. Parking lot off County Road 47 fits 20 vehicles. Ramp into water available; portages may be needed en route.
