Overview This location is available on a first-come, first-served basis only. Visitors are required to physically arrive at the campground to purchase and claim a site. Once on-site, you may be able to pay for your campsite(s) by scanning a QR code using the Recreation.gov mobile app, and the Scan and Pay feature. If this option is available, you will need to first download the free Recreation.gov mobile app https://www.recreation.gov/mobile-app prior to your arrival as some remote areas have limited or no cellular service. Additional Info: Halfmoon East is located at 9,900 feet elevation in San Isabel National Forest off Halfmoon Road (FSR 110), near the Mount Elbert and Mount Massive trailheads. The campground has 5 sites with picnic tables, fire rings with grates, and vault toilets. No potable water is available; water may be obtained at nearby Halfmoon West Campground. Each site accommodates up to 8 people with a maximum of 3 tents or 1 RV and 2 tents. Dogs must be leashed at all times. The facility is generally open May through September, with opening and closing dates weather dependent. Check-in is 2 p.m., check-out is 12 p.m., and quiet hours are 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
