Grapevine Hills 1 (GH-1)

Grapevine Hills 1 (GH-1) is the first primitive roadside campsite located 0.3 miles down the Grapevine Hills gravel road from the main park road, 3.3 miles west of Panther Junction in Big Bend National Park. It offers nice views, solitude, and a small flat gravel space next to the vehicle. Also known as Government Spring, it is a large site suitable for a single vehicle. No shade, toilets, water, or other amenities provided. Requires backcountry permit via recreation.gov. Road accessible to standard vehicles at this point; high clearance needed beyond for other sites. Near Grapevine Hills Trail to Balanced Rock.
