About this site

Government Landing is a small primitive camping area in Huron-Manistee National Forests along the Upper Manistee River, named for nearby Government Island. It offers 3-7 designated first-come, first-served sites (some sources note 3 sites plus 2 on island, others up to 7 including water and overlook sites), each with picnic table, fire ring, and lantern hook. A vault toilet is nearby. Direct river access via boat ramp. No hookups, no potable water, no reservations. Open April 1 to November 30.
