Gold Lake 4x4 campground in northeast Plumas County, CA lies at 6,400 feet in elevation within the Plumas National Forest. The mountains, forest and lake setting provide a picturesque landscape for relaxation, adventure and exploration. A popular location with 4x4 enthusiasts because of access to the backcountry. This is a rustic campground with no utilities, water, hookups, trash service, or restroom facilities. Campers must pack out all their sanitation and trash. Additional Info: Reservation-only campground with 13 campsites. Access via boulder-strewn OHV road requiring 4-wheel drive and high clearance, approximately 1.5 miles from Gold Lake Campground. Also accessible by boat. Each site includes picnic table, bear-proof food locker, and fire ring. Operates early June through mid-October. No potable water, no hookups, no toilet facilities. Campers must bring all necessary water.
