About this site

Gold Bluffs Beach Campground is located within Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, situated on an open grassy plain adjacent to a vast, secluded stretch of Pacific beach and beneath redwood-topped bluffs. The campground offers 24-26 reservable vehicle sites plus a designated hike/bike backcountry site. It serves as an ideal base for exploring Fern Canyon's lush vertical walls, observing Roosevelt elk herds that graze the coastal prairie, and accessing more than 70 miles of hiking and biking trails through ancient redwood forests. Access requires navigating Davison Road, a narrow, winding, single-lane dirt and gravel route that extends 10 miles from Highway 101. Vehicles must be 8 feet wide or less and 24 feet long or less; no trailers are allowed. Amenities include solar showers, restrooms, fire pits, picnic tables, and bear-proof lockers. Dogs are allowed on a leash at the campground and adjoining beach. Reservations are required May 15 through September 15 and can be made through ReserveCalifornia (www.reservecalifornia.com or 1-800-444-7275). Day-use permits are required to access Fern Canyon during peak season.
