Gilliland Fork Campsite is a backcountry site in Great Smoky Mountains National Park's northern section, arranged in five sections labeled A, B, C, D, and E. Elevation 2,680 feet. Capacity: 12. Sites A and B feature grassy, well-drained tent spots near Gilliland Creek. Site C is more impacted with potentially poorer drainage. Sites D and E are approximately 100 yards further up the trail, more secluded but with challenging level ground. Bear cables are present throughout. The site features low impact layout, good water access from Gilliland Creek, and is accessible via Lower Mount Cammerer Trail (3.3 miles from Cosby Campground trailhead) or Appalachian Trail (4.1 miles from AT trailhead). Backcountry camping permit required; reservations available up to 30 days in advance for maximum 7 nights.
