Gilbertson Campground and Education Area is a nearly 1,000-acre park along the Turkey River near Elgin, Iowa, featuring streams, prairies, river bottoms, and limestone bluffs. The campground offers 27 electrical sites, 8 primitive sites, 7 walk-in sites, playground, pavilion, showers, sinks, and flush toilets. Nearly 10 miles of trails for hiking, non-motorized biking, horseback riding. Includes Gilbertson Nature Center, fishing pond, nature playscape, summer petting zoo, and historical buildings with farm antiques. All sites first come, first served. Electric sites $15/night, non-electric $10/night. Equestrian campground with hitching posts, trailer parking, pit toilet. Dumping station and water fill available.
