Gerber South Campsite
About this site
Gerber South Campsite is a BLM-managed developed campground located on Gerber Reservoir near Bonanza, Oregon, approximately 42 miles east of Klamath Falls. The campground sits at an elevation of 4,800 feet in a high-desert landscape. Gerber South is one of two primary developed camping areas at the Gerber Recreation Area, featuring 50 individual gravel sites with picnic tables, fire rings, and tent pads. All sites are first-come, first-served with no reservations. During peak season (mid-May to mid-September), amenities include vault toilets, seasonal potable water from hand pumps, trash collection, and a camp host on duty. An RV dump station is available. There are no electrical, water, or sewer hookups at individual sites; RVers should arrive with full freshwater tanks and sufficient battery power. Maximum vehicle length is 30 feet. Pets are welcome but must remain leashed. During off-season (October 1 onward), camping is free but no amenities such as drinking water, trash collection, or camp host services are provided. The recreation area offers fishing, boating, hiking, horseback riding, and cycling opportunities on the 17-mile shoreline of Gerber Reservoir.
